My missing lipgloss...

A couple of days ago I noticed Caleb snooping in my purse and grabbing some of my makeup. I took it away, but when I went to put on my long-wear lipgloss duo the next day, it was missing.

Fast forward one more day, Gabe yells, "MOMMY! CALEB'S PUTTING YOUR MAKEUP ON!!" Sure enough, he found it. I don't know where, but he found it. :-) Since it was "long wear," and wouldn't come off with a wipe, I had to use eye makeup remover!

Stinker.

School Time

Gabe will be starting 3-day preschool in September, and his new teacher has a tradition of visiting the students before school starts. She came to visit us today, and Gabe was VERY excited for her to come. He literally sat in his chair at the door on the porch waiting for her, and then while she was here he was bouncing of the walls (perfect...hope it didn't make her nervous!).

Waiting, waiting...:

Gabe's new preschool teacher came for a home visit today. Here he is anxiously awaiting her arrival. :-)

If you think about it...

IMG_5203

...say a little prayer for Gabie. I decided to take him in to the dr. yesterday (mostly because I was taking Caleb in for something else, which turned out to be nothing). He's had a dry, nagging cough for quite a while now, sort of lingering since his last cold. I had noticed it, but wasn't really thinking that much of it since it wasn't very frequent, didn't seem very deep, no other symptoms, etc. But then I noticed lately that he's seemed really tired also, even saying sometimes, "I'm pooped" and not wanting to do things he normally would.

As it turns out, there is a "wheeze" in his lungs. The doctor thinks that it's just leftover inflamation from his last illness and prescribed four days of oral steroids. If that doesn't clear it up, we'll have to look at whether he might have light asthma. I'm praying that is not the case. He also mentioned doing an x-ray to rule out any congenital lung issues, but since we had one last November, we didn't have to have one (congentital issues would have been picked up at that time).

So, say a little prayer for him. He's acting fine, I'm just feeling bad for not following my instincts and taking him in sooner. I'm hoping that it will clear up with this medicine. I also asked if it could be related at all to the fact that he was born with trachomalacia (floppy airway) or if it could be related to any environmental issues like mold or something and the dr. said no. I'm not super worried, but hoping that it doesn't end up being anything major.

Thanks!

Potty Training Caleb

Picnik collage

I'm hoping Caleb will be a a little easier to potty train. I haven't tried yet, but he's definitely interested since he sees his big brother using the potty. I can't remember if I've posted this story or not, so sorry if it's a repeat, but Gabe has tried a few times to "show" Caleb how to use the potty.

On a couple of occasions getting ready for the bath, Gabe has taken Caleb through the steps - even helping him take his pants off and then showing him where to stand, etc. One night we were all upstairs, and this transpired, and Gabe told us all to stand in the hall because Caleb needed privacy. He shut the door and the three of us stood there just to humor him. It was super quiet, and when we opened the door, there was a little dribble of pee on the floor! So, he's not quite tall enough, but I think he got the idea! :-)

He goes through the routing from the pics above regularly. He'll say "pee" and then waltz into the bathroom, put the seat up, pull his shirt up (this is what he sees Gabie do) and then just stands there (pants on). Then he flushes and goes on about his merry way!

I'm thinking maybe Gabe can just train him for me?!

Chillaxin'

The last couple of mornings have been rainy and cozy, so we've just been hanging out. Yesterday Caleb kept grabbing different books and climbing up on the couch like he was reading them (not sure how this Christmas book didn't make it into the box with the others!). Gabe was working on his fave - puzzles.

Artificially Flavored Goodness

IMG_4842

Caleb had his first twinkie at a BBQ at Dan's work last night. He loved it. He's definitely going to be our little sweet tooth!
